By Breaking Belize News Staff: The Belize City Magistrate’s Court has ordered that 35-year-old Christopher Logan undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine if he is mentally fit to stand trial.
Logan appeared unrepresented on Tuesday, charged with two counts of aggravated assault upon his 29-year-old female cousin.
In court, Logan, who didn’t appear to be understanding the proceedings, pleaded not guilty and said that it was his cousin, her brother, and her mother who all attacked him first and beat him up badly. The prosecutor requested the evaluation, which the Magistrate agreed with and granted.
The Magistrate offered Logan bail in the sum of $800 plus two sureties of the same, setting conditions that he is to refrain from having any contact with the complainant or the prosecution’s witnesses for the duration of the proceedings.
His next court date was set for April 28, 2023.
The complainant alleged that during a family dispute on February 16, Logan attacked her with a green construction level and a piece of 2×4 lumber.
