Minister Rodwell Ferguson responds to allegations following leaked memo to CEO Marconi Leal Jr

Posted: Thursday, March 2, 2023. 11:17 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: A leaked memo dated February 23, 2023, from the Minister of Youth, Sports and Transport Rodwell Ferguson to CEO Marconi Leal Jr. has caused mounting speculations since the memo advised CEO Leal that effective immediately any transaction above $5000 must go to the Minister before any PO is made.

“If there are any prior commitments and installment payments kindly forward the original transaction detail to me,” Ferguson said.

Minister Ferguson said this morning via Facebook that he maintains his integrity.

“I will maintain my integrity. It is estimated that Government lose an estimated 100 million dollars each year because of misappropriation of funds in one way or the other.  I am not alluding that any hanky-panky is going on. While you will say that the CEOs are the accounting officers, I beg the question who do they account to,” Ferguson said.

“I maintain honesty and integrity in what I do even before I was in Government,” he added.

With regards to allegations made by another media house about the installation of 25 new AC units at a minister’s hotel, Ferguson noted, “I want the newspaper to call name about the installation of 25 new AC at my place, then they will face the wrath of the law. I can hold my head high, nobody and absolutely nobody can say I use my office for private gain.”
