By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Forty-three Southern beekeepers from the Stann Creek and Toledo Districts on Thursday attended a one-day beekeeping training session on honey value added products.

The training was conducted through collaborative efforts between Ya’axche Conservation Trust, the Caribbean Development Fund and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE).

“The training focuses on making infused honey products, candles from bee wax and mead (honey wine),” MAFSE said in a social media post.

MAFSE said a second session is being held on Friday at local apiaries focusing on best beekeeping management and best manufacturing practices.

MAFSE has been pushing honey with the objective that the industry meets local demands.
