By Aaron Humes: Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE) park ranger Norman Andrew Williams’ death is being investigated by police after he was found trapped under an all-terrain vehicle on Thursday evening.
According to police, Andrew, 32, as he was known to all, had gone to check on a wildfire located about ten miles north of the central station at Paynes Creek National Park around 10:30 in the morning. By 5 p.m. he had not reported back in and his colleagues went out to look for him.
Williams’ body was found thereafter with the ATV, which is not licensed or insured, found on top of him. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Punta Gorda Hospital, suggesting he had died sometime before he was discovered. Police investigations continue.
