Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE) extends condolences on death of park ranger

Posted: Saturday, March 4, 2023. 9:22 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Thursday night, the body of park ranger Norman Andrew Williams was found in Paynes Creek National park.

Williams reportedly left the central station on an ATV around 10:30 Thursday morning and didn’t report back at 5pm. His colleagues went to search and found his body. Williams is believed to have suffered an ATV accident and died.

The Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE) has extended condolences to his family and friends.

“Our hearts are heavy with grief for the loss of a talented and dedicated park ranger, burn boss and tour guide, who has been a member of the TIDE family since 2006. Andrew’s significant contributions to conservation in Toledo and Belize will not be forgotten,” TIDE said.

TIDE says they will share memories and celebrate Williams achievements.

“Gone, but never forgotten. May you rest in peace and let the flames of your spirit continue to burn bright in our memories,” TIDE added.
