Man fatally stabbed during bar fight in San Pedro

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A man is dead following a bar fight in San Pedro early this morning.

Reports are that 29-year-old Elder Arana was involved in the brawl around 1:40 a.m. where he was stabbed to the chest, abdomen and back. He was taken to the San Pedro Polyclinic where he died at 2:00 a.m. while receiving medical treatment.

Police say when they arrived at the bar they found 32-year-old Alvaro Tun, who was involved in the incident, as well as three other men trying to flee the scene. Police pursued and detained these men.

Initial investigation revealed that around 1:40 a.m. Tun got into an altercation with Arana and began to choke him, which led to the brawl outside of the bar.

Police have detained four men in connection with the incident and recovered a broken pool stick from the scene as part of an ongoing investigation.
