By Aaron Humes: With most of the Magistracy relocated in the wake of damage to the historic Treasury building on Regent Street and Treasury Lane, burglars saw a chance to do damage at the downtown office of the Police Prosecution Branch.
According to Police, Corporal of Police Santiago Hernandez was in the area around 5:30 this morning washing the Police mobile when he noticed that the side door of the small zinc-roof building was apparently pried open and broken into.
Corporal Hernandez called 911 as well as officer in charge Sergeant Kennard Clark, who responded a short time later. The senior officer said he had left the building properly locked and secured on Friday evening at the close of business around 5 p.m.
A check inside found the place ransacked, but nothing of value apparently missing. Police investigations continue.
