Police still working murder of Brian Perez on Gill Street

By Aaron Humes: Police today brushed aside reports that a minor is being looked into in relation to last Thursday night’s murder of Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) technician Brian Perez on Gill Street, which also left several female family members badly injured.

Communications Officer for the Belize Police Department, Assistant Superintendent of Police Fitzroy Yearwood said he could not confirm that report, but added that the Police are looking at every angle possible: “Every life lost is a major incident for us and we treat it in that manner. We are investigating Perez’s murder, unfortunately, and as soon as I have new information to share in regard to that investigation it will be shared.”

Gill Street is located in the heart of gang territory and has seen numerous murders and shooting incidents over the years, but few directed at innocent civilians as Perez apparently was. Investigations continue.
