Man fined over $400 for possession of cocaine

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City resident was fined this week after being convicted of drug possession.

When Charles Castillo appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, charged with possession of controlled drugs in connection to 0.7 grams of cocaine he wasted no time in pleading guilty.

In mitigation, he pleaded with the court not to send him to jail as his children are waiting for him at home.

Castillo was fined $400 plus $5 cost of court and given until May 26 to pay or he will face 4 months in prison.
