Opposition Leader salutes Belize’s women on International Women’s Day

Posted: Wednesday, March 8, 2023. 10:46 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Leader of the Opposition, Moses “Shyne” Barrow has recognized Belizean women as “equal partners in advancing humanity,” stating, “We must continue to work together to remove the obstacles that were established for generations to deny women their human right to equality.”

In a statement, Barrow says, “When I look at a woman, I see another human being who has every right, every potential and every capacity to achieve the highest heights.”

According to Barrow, “While gender gives us our unique identity, gender should never be the basis for discrimination and inequality.”

And he says the UDP has always led the charge in the fight against gender inequity, gender bias and all of the draconian societal traditions that have subjected women to a denial of their human rights to be treated fairly.
