Special Envoy: “Happy International Women’s Day” to our women in uniform

Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Rossana Briceño has extended congratulations to all Belizean women.

“Today, we focus on women – achievements and remaining challenges, inspiration but remaining stereotypes and discrimination, leadership but the barriers and nay sayers.

No where are these challenges more blatant than in uniformed services and probably more principally in the armies and defense forces.

The challenge to break gender stereotypes, discrimination, and bias is one I hope the Belize Defense Force takes seriously on this day, International Women’s Day 2023,” the Special Envoy said.

The Special Envoy addressed the gathering at the #EmbraceEquity BDF and BATSUB event.

“Our women in the uniformed armed forces have my personal admiration and support. We recognize you today and our ongoing gender advocacy holds you in strong support,” she added.

The Special Envoy said that we are counting on the men in uniform to meet the challenges faced by women in uniform and reflect real term advancements for women.
