By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Under-19 Women’s National Team (U-19 BWNT) are holding their own as they have kept Panama at bay in a scoreless first half in their final game in the first round of the UNCAF U-19 Women’s Championship in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

The U-19 BWNT have to maintain the momentum for the final 45 minutes to gain at least a draw in the tournament in which they have lost their first two games.

The U-19 BWNT fell 2-1 to Guatemala on Tuesday. They were up 1-0 on a goal by Khalydia Velasquez but were unable to hold the lead to the end. Prior to that, on Sunday they lost 2-0 to Honduras.

Panama came into today’s game as the strongest team in Group with six points. Both Guatemala and Honduras have three points, while Belize don’t have any points.

The other Thursday match in Group A features Honduras against Guatemala at 3:00 pm. In Group B, El Salvador play their final group game against the Dominican Republic while Costa Rica battle Nicaragua.

The final ranking games are scheduled for Saturday, March 11
