By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Under-19 Women’s National Team (U-19 BWNT) fell 1-0 to Group favourites Panama in their final Group A game in the first round of the UNCAF U-19 Women’s Championship in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
The U-19 BWNT played a superb game against Panama, but the Panamanians took advantage of a clearance in the 64’ which bounced off captain Deysiré Salazar who then kicked the ball into the net past goalkeeper Belinda Ramirez.
Panama topped Group A with nine points from three victories and will play for the championship against El Salvador that downed the Dominican Republic 3-1 to also gain nine points.
Belize on the other hand lost all three matches and will play for seventh place against the last place team from Group B.
