Man charged for hitting minor almost half his age in the face with a pint bottle

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man was remanded to the Belize Central Prison this week over an incident in which he hit a 16-year-old minor in his face with a pint bottle.

Thirty-one-year-old Lincoln Hemsley Jr. appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s court on Wednesday, charged with a single count of use of deadly means of harm.

The court did not take a plea as the matter will be trialed in the High Court of Belize. Meanwhile, bail was denied and Hemsley was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until June 8.

Allegations are that on February 22, the minor was at the corner of King Street and East Collect Canal when Hemsley rode up on a bicycle and they exchanged words. Hemsley then jumped off his bicycle and hit the minor in the face with the pint bottle causing severe damage.

The minor was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) where he had to undergo surgery.
