Man arrested for breaking into prosecution branch office at Magistrate’s Court

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have apprehended the man believed to be responsible for the break-in at the police prosecution branch office near the Belize City Magistrate’s Court last month.

Earlier today, police formally arrested and charged 32-year-old Kriston Smith, a resident of Belama Phase 3, Belize City, for the crime of burglary.

The discovery of the burglary was made on Tuesday, March 7. The office, which is a separate building located at the rear parking lot of the Magistrate’s Court was found broken into and ransacked.

The Magistrate’s Court itself had been relocated to Coney Drive to allow for repairs to the building after a significant portion was blown off by Hurricane Lisa last November.
