By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Mexican Rosa Cruz Urbina running for Splash Elite won the Women in Sports Commission’s Women in Stride 5K in Belize City on Saturday morning.
Cruz Urbina clocked 20 minutes, 43.1 seconds (20:43.1) to top the race which started in front of the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association building at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex and headed to Golden Bay on Marine Parade and back.
Cruz ran at such a fast and steady pace that not only was she faster than all the women, but she also bested all the men except overall winner Amir Ramos who clocked 19: 35. 5.
Cruz Urbina was followed by her teammate Splash’s Jane Champion in 25:07.0 and Dorsha Sabido in 23:39.1.
Neidy López was fourth in 25:55.4 and Splash’s Byanka Castillo finished fifth in 26:17.3.
