Drowning victim in Cayo identified as Santa Elena resident Egbert McKoy Jr.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Authorities have identified the man who drowned in the Cayo District yesterday as Santa Elena resident Egbert McKoy Jr.

McKoy drowned in Macal River and was pronounced dead around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The circumstances of his drowning are still under investigation.

Following his passing, the primary school he attended, ie. Santa Elena Primary School, issued a message of condolence to his family, noting that he had made the school proud back in 2002 when he won the national spelling bee championship.
