By Breaking Belize News Staff: While San Lazaro Village resident Byron Tillett is recovering from being involved in a massive road traffic accident on Saturday, March 11, police have served him with a notice of intended prosecution, as four people died in the crash.

The accident, which occurred in Yo Creek, Orange Walk District, around 8:00 p.m. on March 11, left 27-year-old Аldаіr Тіllеtt, hіѕ wіfе Fеlіѕhа Dе LаFuеntе, аnd thеіr four-year-old dаughtеr, аnd аnоthеr mеmbеr оf thе fаmіlу, 18-year-old Јеаnnіnа Тіllеtt, trapped inside the vehicle with severe injuries. While authorities tried to get them out in time, they all succumbed to their injuries.

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, head of communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police, said that investigators are doing everything required to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident, including trying to obtain a specimen to determine Tillett’s blood alcohol level at the time. Tillett will also be charged if he refuses to provide that specimen to police.

“From what investigators have said so far, one of the drivers may have lost control of their vehicle,” Yearwood said.

Byron Tillett, along with a passenger who was riding with him were taken to the Northern Regional Hospital (NRH) for treatment following the incident, and police say their condition was listed as critical but stable.
