Progresso shock Champions Altitude 2-1 in Premier League of Belize Closing Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias:  Coming off their impressive 0-0 draw with the San Pedro Pirates, Progresso FC pulled off another astounding performance sending tremors through the National Champions Altitude beating them 2-1 in the Premier League of Belize’s Closing Championship on Saturday night at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence.

Jonard Castillo drew first blood in the 13’ to put the visiting Progressso ahead 1-0.

The score remained like that until Brazilian Aloisio Texeira levelled in the70′.

However, Progresso were not going home with just peanuts. They wanted more than just that. And they got it in the 4th minute of injury time, when Alden Nuñez found the net for the 2-1 triumphed.

They now total 14 points and have moved up from 5th to 4th place in the standings.

Altitude, on the other hand, drop from 4th to 5th in the ranking.
