Rotary Club of Belize receives grant from Rotary Global Grant valued at $174,000 for program at Kolbe

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Rotary Club of Belize has received a grant of $174,000 for a program at the Kolbe Foundation.

The RACHEL (Remote Area Community Hotspot Education and Learning Program) is a learning software program teaching over 400 inmates how to read, write, math, commuter skills, English and phonics.

Through the program, inmates have access to 240 Chromebooks, headsets, desks, printers, stationery, and training.

The grant was made possible through the Rotary Global Grant and Rotary Club of Port Moody.

The pilot project is now also being offered at St. Martin De Porres school for students to have access to math, English, phonics, and potentially an introduction to computer course.
