Ex-cop convicted of raping a 14-year-old child in Corozal

By Aaron Humes: On Tuesday afternoon, High Court Justice Antoinette Moore concluded a trial on a charge of rape of a child by a former police officer, by finding him guilty as charged.

Cyril Casimiro was charged in 2015 in Corozal after a fourteen-year-old minor reported that while walking home in the Altamira area, Casimiro, known to her, offered her a ride on his Department-issued motorbike.

Instead, he took her to the Consejo area and forced intercourse on her. A doctor later confirmed that she was carnally known and classified her injury as wounding.

Justice Moore briefly announced the verdict and ordered Casimiro taken into custody until sentencing. The full 21-page ruling will be sent to his attorney prior to the sentencing date as agreed with the court.
