Non-Governmental Organizations call out Government for presentation of Non-Profit Organizations bill

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On March 10, 2023, at the national budget presentation, a bill was introduced with the purpose of regulating the source of funding for Non-Governmental and Non-profit organizations.

The Belize Network of NGOs has called out the Government for introducing such a bill without consultation with NGOs and other organizations included in the definition of Non-Profit organizations.

The BNN sent a letter to Prime Minister John Briceño requesting that the consideration of the bill be delayed until consultations are done.
