International News: Salvadoran Government moves thousands of inmates to new mega-prison

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Government of El Salvador has transferred thousands of suspected gang members to its new mega-prison, Reuters report.

President Nayib Bukele remains committed to the gang crackdown in the country increasing the prison population.

Bukele posted a video on social media showing the prisoners running into cells at the new prison.

The State of emergency that was instituted in March of 2022 has been extended every month since then.

To date, over 64,000 suspected have been arrested.

Human rights groups say that some innocent people have been caught up in the policy, including at least dozens who have died in police custody.
