San Pedro Pirates, Port Layola, Verdes share 3-team lead atop Premier League of Belize

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The San Pedro Pirates, Port Layola, and Verdes are tied at 18 points each atop the Premier League of Belize’s Closing Championship. However, based on goal difference, San Pedro are first, Port second, and Verdes third.

After 9 games, the Pirates have scored 23 goals and allowed 8 for a difference of 15. Port and Verdes are tied at 19 in favour and 7 against. We must point out, though, that had Port not had their 2-1 win over Verdes overturned to a 0-3 loss, they would have 21 in favour and 5 against while Verdes would have 17 and 9. But that’s if … the present day reality is that they are dead even. They’ll have their revenge, both of them, this Sunday when they meet again. Enough talk … the time has come for them to take each other on again.

Progresso are next in line in fourth place with 14 points ahead of Altitude and Benque Viejo United who are tied at 12 points each. Altitude have a slight goal difference edge with a +1 from 12 against 11 to Benque’s -1 from 9 in favour and 10 against.

Wagiya follow suit in seventh place with just three points. Internacional, formerly Bandits, are in the dungeon with one solitary point.
