Belize Audubon Society congratulates 1st team to complete the Victoria Peak Challenge for 2023

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Belize Audubon Society and the staff of the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary extended congratulations to the first group that completed the Victoria Peak Challenge for 2023.

The group of 6 plus 2 guides and 1 porter left on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 to the Victoria Peak summit and returned safely on Thursday, March 15 at the base of the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Khadija Assales of Kaj Expressions completed the challenge and said it had been a dream, “Ladies and Gentlemen Climbing Victoria Peak was a dream that I and the rest of my amazing team ‘Top ah Top” JUST DID! The blisters on my feet and the pain in my knees tell the tale of this most extreme and invigorating hike I’ve ever done.”

The hike must be done with a licensed guide.
