Belize Elite Basketball League features games in Belize City, Orange Walk on Friday night

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Elite Basketball League features two games in Belize City and Orange Walk on Friday night.

The Benny’s Belize Hurricanes, featuring Kirk Smith Jr, who had been kept out since signing for both the Hurricanes and the Belize City Defenders, host the Punta Gorda Panthers (1-6) on Friday night at the Belize City Civic Center. The game tips off at 9:00 pm.

At present, the Canes share the lead with the Griga Dream Ballers with a 5-2 record. A win tonight will secure the top spot going into next week. For the Panthers, with a 1-6 record, a win would help them if just a bit, to make the season a little more bearable.

Also tonight, third-place Orange Walk Town Running Rebels (4-3) will play at home against the Cayo Western Ballaz (3-4) who have the exact opposite record. The game at the Orange Walk Multi-Purpose Complex starts at 10:00 pm.

Coming up on Saturday, leaders Griga Dream Ballers (5-2) will laywait the Digi Belize City Defenders (4-3) at 9:00 pm in Dangriga while the Belmopan Red Taigaz (3-3) take on the San Pedro Tiger Sharks (2-4) at 8:00 pm in Belmopan.
