Belize to play Guatemala in U-19 Norceca Boys Volleyball Championship on Friday at 4:00 pm

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After losing their three pool play games in the U-19 Norceca Boys Volleyball Championship, Belize will play Guatemala on Friday at 4:00 pm in one of the 5th-8th Classification games in the regional tournament being played in Guatemala City.

The United States and Mexico won their groups with perfect 3-0 records and advanced directly to the semifinals to be played on Friday.

Belize and Suriname finished last in their groups with 0-3 records so they had to wait for the Quarterfinal to find out who they would play in the Classification games.


On Thursday, in the Quarterfinals, Costa Rica (1-3), who finished third in Group A, beat Guatemala (2-1), who finished second in Group B, 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-21) while Mexico (2-1), who finished second in Group A, defeated Nicaragua (1-2), who finished third in Group B, 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-15).

Mexico and Costa Rica advanced to the semifinals on Thursday in which Mexico will play Puerto Rico at 6:00 pm and Costa Rica will again challenge the United States at 8:00 pm.

In the Classification games on Thursday as well, Suriname open action against Nicaragua at 2:00 pm while Belize face Guatemala at 4:00 pm. The winners of these games play on Saturday for fifth and sixth places and the losers will determine the seventh and eighth spots.

All games are being played at the Domo in Guatemala City.
