Port Layola host Verdes in grudge match Sunday in Belize City in Premier League of Belize

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Port Layola will be hosting Verdes in a revenge match on Sunday at 4:00 pm at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City in Premier League of Belize’ Closing Championship.

Port have been incensed and have been looking forward to Sunday’s match since losing the three points they gained after beating Verdes 2-1 in the first round for fielding ineligible player Argentine Jonathan Moschini on Sunday, January 29.

Port’s Gilroy ‘Bredda’ Thurton, Michael Palacio, and Verdes’ Mexican defender Marco Antonio all lost their goals.

Other than that, the PLB’s 10th week features leaders San Pedro Pirates against last-place Internacional on Saturday at 7:00 pm at Ambergris Stadium. The match should be a sure victory for the islanders unless a debacle happens.

On Sunday, fourth-place Progresso will be home the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk Town against sixth-place Benque Viejo United at 3:30 pm. This should be a competitive and exciting game going by the way both have been playing lately.

The final match in Sunday is the Southern Derby in Dangriga. The match which kicks off at 4:00 pm should be rather entertaining as rivalries go far beyond present standings. Neither club is doing too well, but you con bet that they’ll come out pumping at the start whistle.
