Sugar Industry Research and Development Institute (SIRDI) hosts 65 students, 2 teachers from Eden SDA High School

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Sugar Industry Research and Development Institute (SIRDI) this week hosted 65 students and two teachers from Eden Seventh Day Adventist High School from Santa Elena, Cayo District.

“Youths ‘Agents of Change’ play an essential role in our country Belize,” SIRDI said,  

“Providing them with hands-on experience will build their interest in this occasion for the Agriculture Sector.”

SIRDI said during the Eden students’ visit they explained in a participatory rotational session the different research activities carried out by the sugar institute. According to SIRDI, they shared relevant information with the students on the topics of sugarcane irrigation, plant nutrition, sugarcane varieties, tractor services, and integrated pest management focusing on the use of environmentally friendly bio-pesticides.
