Boys crash motorcycle head-on into SUV; 7-year-old dies while 12-year-old is hospitalized in critical condition

By Aaron Humes: A tragic mishap was reported in Blue Creek, Orange Walk District earlier this morning involving two boys aged 12 and 7 on a motorcycle.

Reports from the area say the older boy was driving the motorcycle, carrying his little brother, when he collided head-on into an approaching Toyota 4Runner. The younger boy reportedly died on impact while the older boy at last report was hospitalized in critical condition at the Northern Regional Hospital, Orange Walk Town.

In Mennonite villages such as Blue Creek, Shipyard and Spanish Lookout in Cayo, it is not uncommon to hear of teenagers and pre-teens operating motor vehicles, sometimes resulting in accidents. It has not been indicated the circumstances of how the boys came to be on the motorcycle.
