Orange Walk Town Running Rebels stun Cayo Western Ballaz 101-89 in Belize Elite Basketball League

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Orange Walk Town Running Rebels shocked the Cayo Western Ballaz 101-89 at the Orange Walk Multi-Purpose Complex on Friday as the Belize Elite Basketball League’s (BEBL) second round got underway.

The Running Rebels improved to a 5-3 record while the Western Ballaz dropped to 3-5.

James Stanback and Bryan Hudson led the Rebels with 21 points each. Tyron Hall added 20 with 7 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals.

The Western Ballaz Mark Gordon led the way with 34 points and 10 rebounds but it was not going to be enough. Jamie Carbajal added 13 and Darnell Oden contributed 11.

In the other game on Friday, the Benny’s Belize Hurricanes (6-2) blasted the Punta Gorda Panthers (1-7) 143-78 at the Belize City Civic Center.

The BEBL continues on Saturday when the Belmopan Red Taigaz (3-3) match up against the San Pedro Tiger Sharks (2-4) at 8:00 pm in Belmopan and the Griga Dream Ballers (5-2) take on the Digi Belize City Defenders (4-3) at 9:00 pm in Dangriga.
