Prime Minister meets with representatives from Panama’s Electricity Transmission Company to discuss joining Central American electricity grid

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Prime Minister John Briceño is in Panama City attending the Annual Meeting of the Boards of Governors of the Inter- American Development Bank (IDB) and IDB Invest.

On March 17, 2023, the Prime Minister met with Carlos Mosquera Castillo – General Manager and his team from Panama’s Electricity Transmission Company and discussed the possibility of Belize joining the Central American electricity grid.

“Access to electricity and its cost are important for industry growth and national development.  It is incumbent on the Government to identify effective and cost-efficient alternative sources of energy,” PM Briceño said.

“We are meeting with all CA countries to obtain access to #SIEPAC – the Central American electricity grid,” he added.
