By Aaron Humes: Police are on the hunt for three suspects, one of whom has threatened the death of Victor Gutierrez after breaking into his home and robbing him on Thursday afternoon.
At high noon Gutierrez and his wife and daughter were at home when three men who appear to be of Maya and Hispanic descent walked right into his residence. According to Gutierrez, he asked the men what happened whereupon the first Maya man grabbed him and took him to his bedroom with the others following. He began to search the room and in a Bible found $290 cash.
Unsatisfied, the robber pointed his gun at Gutierrez and threatened to come back and kill him if he didn’t have $800 by morning. Gutierrez shouted to his wife as she watched on before his assailant handcuffed him and again threatened to kill him, saying he would take him “to Cayo” (i.e., the San Ignacio area) and dump him in the bushes. He then loosened the handcuffs and warned once more that he would come back for “my 800 dollars” and that if Gutierrez did not have it, he and his entire family would be killed.
Police investigations continue.
