By Aaron Humes: Earlier this week, media reports were that Secretary-General of the United Democratic Party Evalee Skeen-Engleton was apparently dismissed.
Skeen-Engleton succeeded longtime party stalwart and former Senator Juliet Thimbriel, who in turn had succeeded former Chief Education Officer Dr Carol Babb last year following the party convention that elected current UDP leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow.
And while there has been no public talk of why this critical post in the party has been subject to “musical chairs,” the Party Leader’s job is soon to be secure as at the next National Party Council meeting, a resolution will be passed to ensure he remains in the top job going into the next general elections, as his father Dean Barrow did before him.
Barrow and the Party have been actively holding constituency conventions to elect standard-bearers ahead of general elections and preparing for a National Convention to be held later this year.
