Woman robbed at gun point, thrown to the ground for her purse in Belize City

By BBN Staff: A woman reported to police that early on Saturday morning as she was walking on Church Street in Belize City she was robbed of her purse containing cash and valuables to the tune of nearly $1,000.

According to the victim, she was walking toward George Street when an unknown man in a hoodie approached from behind and pointed what she believed to be a gun at the back of her head. He grabbed her purse and a struggle ensued, police say.

The robber threw her to the ground and ran off toward George Street. The woman reported that she lost her phone, money, other items, and IDs in her purse. The estimated value of her loss is $965. Police are investigating.
