Ministry of Education: More than 50% of high school students will receive subsidies

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, Francis Fonseca told BBN’s Zoila Gonzalez that the Education Upliftment project is being expanded and will benefit 1,000 students in south side Belize City and 1,600 students in Stann Creek and Toledo districts.

In addition, the Ministry will be providing $200 subsidies for 11,820 students for a total cost of $2,364,000.

Minister Fonseca noted that the total population in high school is about 22,000.

Therefore, automatically more than half of the high school population will be receiving some sort of financial assistance.
