New burglary charge gets old bail revoked for Freddy Vasquez

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Ladyville resident Freddy Vasquez was remanded to the Belize Central Prison today after violating the conditions of his bail.

Vasquez appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today charged with a single count of burglary with respect to a stolen $300 cell phone.

At his arraignment, the prosecution noted to the court that Vasquez had just been in court a week prior to receive bail for the same offense. The prosecution further noted that his bail conditions stipulated that he was not to be charged with any other offense and that he was subject to a curfew, and he violated both of those terms.

The Senior Magistrate agreed and revoked Vasquez’s old burglary case bail which was granted to him in October 2022 in the sum of $5,000 plus one surety or two sureties of $2,500 each but he had not been able to meet until Monday, March 13, 2023.

He was denied bail for this latest charge and remanded to prison until May 22.

Allegations against Vasquez are that sometime between March 17 and March 18, he entered a home on Pigeon Street, Ladyville Village, as a trespasser and stole the aforementioned cell phone.
