Community policing and Belize Central prison join efforts for clean-up campaign near Grace Primary

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Community Policing Unit teamed up with the Belize Central Prison to conduct a clean-up campaign near Grace Primary School in Belize City.

A recent meeting with the school’s administration revealed that the bushy area near the school was a main concern. The school has seen a number of burglaries and other forms of crime.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Howell Gillett says that as a preventative measure, inmates are out in great numbers until the area is completely cleared and is rendered safer for the students and staff at Grace Primary.

“Grateful to CEO of Prison, Virijilio Murillo for supporting us with the inmates, Sandy Bradshaw, General Manager for supporting the initiative, and all the COP officers for providing the security,” Gillett said.
