By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: A report by the United Nations noted that clashes between gangs in Haiti has left 187 people dead in less than 2 weeks.
The Associated Press reports that the wave of violence from February 27 to March 9 in Port-au-Prince has displaced hundreds of people and forced farmers to abandon their farms.
The U.N. said that the situation is very alarming for children who are often subjected to armed violence.
Almost 260 kidnappings have also been reported since the start of 2023.
Last week, Prime Minister Ariel Henry noted that he is seeking to mobilize Haiti’s military to help the police fight violent gangs.
