Ministry of Education sign MoU with Think Equal USA for rollout of new program

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Dian Maheia, Chief Executive Officer at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, Yolanda Gongora, Chief Education Officer and Cecilia Ramirez-Smith joined partners at UNICEF for the virtual signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Think Equal USA Inc.

Think Equal is a comprehensive, holistic programme designed to equip young children with the foundation they need for positive lives.

The focus on social and emotional learning is a natural complement to the National Curriculum framework, with its targeted efforts to teach values and psycho-social skills and competencies which will engender empathy, self-esteem, and respect for the dignity, value, and equality of others.

The Ministry says that the nationwide rollout in Belize will be “truly revolutionary and impactful for our youngest students.”

The MoU was signed with the support of the UNICEF Office in Belize.

Attendees at the signing also included officers from the Teacher Learning Institute and Early Childhood Unit of the Ministry.
