Ministry of Infrastructure Development conducts two-phase upgrading campaign at 8-Miles, George Price Highway

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) has been working at Western Paradise, otherwise known as the 8-Miles Community off the George Price Highway, for over a month digging drains. Western Paradise consists of Westlake (8 Miles), Sunset Park, and Western Pines.

However, the MIDH said the plan is long range.

“The MIDH is conducting an ongoing upgrading campaign in the 8 Mile community on the George Price Highway,” the MIDH said.

“These drains and roadsides have not been cleaned or maintained in many years. The project will include in the first phase – cleaning existing drains and digging and shaping new drains, as well as the installation of culverts to alleviate flooding.

The MIDH said recently that the work is to be done in two phases.

“The second phase will include the upgrading of streets in the community. We thank you for your patience, as we deliver on Plan Belize,” the MIDH said.
