By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE) through its Agro-Processing Unit on Tuesday launched a new project entitled ‘Empowering Women and Youths to generate income through Agro-processing and value addition of locally grown seasonal fruits and vegetables’.

Thirty women and youths will participate in a two-week training program under this project.

“The training session will focus on certifying and equipping participants with the necessary knowledge to transport their existing product to the next level,” MAFSE said.

The Agro-Processing Unit will conduct the Empowering Women and Youths Project, which is supported by the Republic of China Taiwan’s Technical Mission through its International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF), in Central Farm in the Cayo District.

“The project will primarily focus on certification of various active processors who dedicate a large portion of resources into value added products,” MAFSE said.

The launch was attended by Agriculture Minister Jose Abelardo Mai, Taiwan Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Chief Executive Officer Amalia Mai, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Victoriano Pascual, and other guests.
