By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As the World celebrates World Water Day, the Belize Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise said, in a brief social media post, that Belizeans should appreciate blessings.
“Today is International World Water Day. Let’s remember the 2.2 billion people worldwide that do not have access to safe water, and appreciate the blessings we have in Belize,” MAFSE said.
World Water Day is observed by the United Nations every March 22. This year’s theme is ‘“Accelerating the change to solve the water and sanitation crisis” and to promote it, the United Nations has embarked in a campaign entitled ‘Be the Change You Want to See in the World’.
Despite the problems we have, as the Agriculture Ministry said, Belize is relatively blessed when it comes to our water supply which is rather consistent and of good quality. That’s not something all countries around Belize can say. However, we should take care of our water and conserve it; it’s a precious resource.
