Over 500 Guatemalans expected for Belize-Guatemala game on Friday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: More than 500 Guatemalans, and maybe even more, are expected to swarm the Football Federation of Belize Stadium in Belmopan for the Belize Guatemala match on Friday night.

According to Facebook page Dany Futbol, more than 500 peteneros (Guatemalans from the neighbouring Department of Petén) will cross the Benque/Melchor de Mencos border to support the Guatemalan National Team on Friday.

Belize and Guatemala play on Friday at 8:00 pm at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan in Belize’s second to last game in Group D in the Concacaf Nations League B. In the first leg, the BMNT lost 2-0 to Guatemala in Guatemala City on June 5, 2022.

The BMNT’s final game is on Tuesday against the Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo.

On Tuesday night the BMNT 3-3 in a friendly preparation match against a combined San Pedro Pirates-Verdes side in San Pedro.
