By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: March 2020 is etched in our history books since COVID-19 prompted lockdowns worldwide.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to bring life to a halt, every aspect of our life impacted by this virus, wondering and worrying about the future.

Small and large businesses and corporations closed doors for employees to quarantine.

Many lost loved ones amidst the wave and experienced significant challenges.

However, 3 years later, we can thank God that the pandemic brought Christians and believers from all over the world together virtually.

Quarantined Italians sang from their balconies, in the UK, churches joined and sang “The Blessing”, in the U.S.A, in Latin America and Belize, worship teams transmitted live worship songs to help us cope, to help us keep the faith during such an uncertain time.

During this time, when many small businesses had to later close their doors due to financial challenges, we had to put our creativity to work.

Many other new ideas were implemented and blossomed into online businesses.

And when they began to slowly ease restrictions, the mask mandate remained but businesses followed strict guidelines by the Ministry of Health and Wellness, practicing social distancing, and opting for online business.

Purchasing online, paying online and delivering became the best options for delivery of products including grocery. This provided for minimal contact, lowering the risk of contracting COVID-19.

Today, our lives have been reshaped, we are more appreciative of everything in life, big and small. We are able to hug and love our loved ones a little longer.

Sharing and love were widespread around the world, with food campaigns.

In that moment of despair, we joined efforts and hands in prayer near and far to assist those most vulnerable.

Parents, educators and students continue to adapt to a new normal, after going through the phase of online classes, coping with only virtual communications for family and friends and not being in the physical classroom.

3 years later, we are able to celebrate together those special lifetime moments, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and only now, we know the true meaning of giving, sharing and celebrating life.
