By Benjamin Flowers: To satisfy an ongoing need to increase the level of citizen security in key areas, the Government of Belize is preparing to build several new police stations and substations.

Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries Kareem Musa made the announcement this week that plans are in the works for a total of six new police buildings.

Musa explained that the Ministry is in the final development stage for the infrastructure designs for the new buildings, which will be distributed primarily throughout the Cayo and Belize Districts.

Three new police stations will be built in Santa Elena, Caye Caulker, and Belmopan, while three new substations will be built in San Narciso, Mahogany Heights, and Belize City.

Musa said that the funds for these buildings are included in the 2023-2024 national budget.
