Over 80 police officers to become certified in digital forensics

Posted: Thursday, March 23, 2023. 9:29 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Belize Police Department continues its efforts to combat cyber crimes.

Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, Kareem Musa noted that 86 police officers have received scholarships to complete an internationally-recognized certification in digital forensics and as first responders to cyber-related crimes.

This is a significant achievement since with the evolution of the online world, cyberbullying is also prevalent.

Fake social media accounts have commonly been used to defame, slander, and bully.

These officers will be able to investigate and tackle cybercrime.
