By Benjamin Flowers: Police arrested and charged a San Pedro resident earlier today with two firearms offenses.
Twenty-five-year-old Ivan Rhaburn, a resident of the San Juan area of San Pedro, was detained following police operations on the island today.
He was later charged with kept unlicensed firearm and kept unlicensed ammunition.
Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, Kareem Musa, said this week that illegal firearms remain a great concern for the Belize Police Department and that legislation is in the works to allow for stiffer penalties for those found with illegal firearms.
