By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize High School of Agriculture’s (BHSA) held its cultural day, el Día de la Mestizada on Friday at the school grounds in San Felipe.
“Congrats to BHSA- the day was a huge success!!” the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) said in recognizing the efforts of the school in promoting the Mestizo culture.
“Congrats to the Sugar Industry Research and Development Institute (SIRDI), the Belize Marketing and Development Corporation (BMDC) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE) OW Agric Department for supporting the Belize High School of Agriculture’s Dia de Mestizada,” MAFSE said in applauding the assistance afforded to the school.

BMDC made presentations of their productions including honey and Big Falls Rice and SIRDI made presentation on sugars.
“The booths were well attended, and we are certain students learned quite a lot about the work these entities do.”
The BHSA Día de la Mestizada entailed cultural presentations, traditional mestizo food and drinks, sweets, greasy pole, and greasy pig. The marimba band Los Hijos del West from Benque Viejo del Carmen performed as invited guests.

“We would like to thank God, our school and community for a successful and amazing day,” the BHSA said in a social media post.
