One dead following head-on collision between vehicle and motorcycle in Belmopan

By Benjamin Flowers: A man is dead following a head-on collision between a motorcycle and an SUV in Belmopan last night.

Police say that Emerson Estaurdo Garcia was driving his SUV at the corner of Slim Lane and Forest Drive in Belmopan City shortly before 10:25 p.m. and was making a left turn when he collided with the motorcycle being ridden at the time by 49-year-old Ari C. Vanzie.

Vanzie received severe body injuries and was taken for medical treatment, but died around 3:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Garcia has since given a urine sample to police to check his alcohol levels.

Police investigations continue.
